  • Star today promoted its chief operating officer Uday Shankar to the post of CEO and moved up its senior vice president Jadgish Kumar to fill in Shankar’s vacancy.

 

  • Printo has received a second round of funding of Rs. 250 million (around $6.25 million) from Sequoia Capital to help fund its national expansion. The company has charted out a national expansion plan that they expect will cost them around Rs. 1000 million (around $25 million).

 

  • UTV reported Interactive revenues of Rs. 10.04 crore for the quarter ended September 30 2007. UTV Interactive includes earnings from the companys Gaming, Animation, Post-Production and SFX businesses.

 

  • Mahesh Samat has been named the Managing Director of the Walt Disney Company (India). Samat over twenty years of experience across India, Asia-Pacific and Europe, and joins from Johnson & Johnson, where he was MD for Southern Europe, based out of London. Before that, he has worked with Kellogg’s for India, Warner Lambert/Parke-Davis and Boots India Limited. He’s an IIM graduate. Samat will be based out of Mumbai, and report to Walt Disney International President Andy Bird. He’ll be responsible for all of the existing Disney businesses in India, except the ESPN-Star Sports joint venture.

  • Sify Technologies Ltd. appointed Vijay Kumar as its chief financial officer. Kumar’s previous posts include serving as the assistant general manager of investment banking for Sundaram Finance Services Ltd., Chennai, which he left to begin an independent audit and consultancy business.

 

  • Suku Murti, regional business director for entertainment, sports & partnerships for WPP Media, has resigned and is joining Anil Ambani’s Reliance ADAG “in a group role”. Murti is expected to join Reliance ADAG on Wednesday. His role could go beyond pure media play.

  • Mobile value-added services provider Handygo has launched a new video caller application that enables incoming calls to a mobile phone to be accompanied by an audio-video clip.

 

  • MSN India has a new design for its home page with options of a wide or narrow layout and of changing the colour of the page.

 

  • Sify has announced the change of its name from Sify Limited to Sify Technologies Limited. According to Sify, this is in line with the company’s strategy to position itself as a technology company with deep expertise in IT infrastructure management.

 

  • Sify Technologies Limited has appointed M P Vijay Kumar as chief financial officer.

 

  • Jobs portal TimesJobs.com has launched BossMeter.net, an open contest where employees can nominate their boss in the great bosses’ list and ask their colleagues to vote. According to TimesJobs, the top five bosses with maximum votes and their nominators can win holiday vouchers and exciting prizes from TimesJobs.com.

 

  • Interactive marketing agency Percept Knorigin has launched an ad network company called AdChakra Advertising Network. AdChakra’s services would include search engine advertising and display advertising with campaign management and reporting facilities. The ad network company is based in India with offices in Mumbai, Bangalore and Delhi.

 

  • Computer Associates (CA), an IT management software company, Wednesday launched a new campus of India Technology Center (ITC), making it the largest development facility of the company in the world.

 

  • ITC  has developed a mobile device management (MDM) product, which can manage an entire corporate mobile infrastructure from a single consol.

Bangalore traffic police given an opportunity to auto drivers to loot
public money in a professional way. Meters are runing faster in
signal standing auto than regular. It cashes half the journey cost. As
a public i want to understand why we common people pay for terrific
road traffic for which we regularly pay all our taxes on time.
